this is a banger! apparently one of the only beers they brew and keep on tap regularly, although it always changes a little, the numbers denoting specific barrels i think, i was really impressed with this, the most mature and wild of the beers i had while i was in, although everything i drank here at purpose impressed me. a light amber color to this, a short but fizzy white head, and a really woody and funky aroma, forest floor, wet soil, decomposing wood, fallen leaves, reminds me immediately of some stuff i have had from scratch, a high complement and decidedly different, a little cider vinegar pucker in here too, but equally musty, light citrus too, very compelling! the flavor has a neat fruity foundation to me, raisin, fig, and even dried cherry, but its never sweet. plenty of wood and wine character to it as well, and an almost mushroomy earthiness, like when you reconstitute dried porcinis, trace smoke here too, tart but not particularly acidic either. i wonder how different this is from batch to batch, i cant imagine it being a whole lot more evolved than this, almost drinks like funky cognac, i loved it! purpose is killing it right now and definitely deserves more attention than it seems like they are getting. great beers across the board!
