How did I buy this? (I'd rather not tell... or confess to a weakness of thinking.)
Navigator actually Looks much better than it Tastes. It Smells average, only sweet malts. Tastes are well below my average, really way too sweet for a beer drinker. (And the high ABV is not a redeeming factor in this case.) Almost medium-mouthed.
Writing a micro-review for Grolsch seems misplaced. So consider this a comment. It is curious that a traditional and un-venturous brewer like Grolsch gets bought by two different macro brand managers (Miller in 2008 and Asahi in 2016) and Grolsch still only brews one flagship. It is like Grolsch has only one way to make money while the beer market makes huge fluctuations of the decades from consolidation to crafting to a micro-revolution emerging and, now, competition from other beverages -- including non-alcholoics -- stealing beer's market share. Thru it all, Grolsch never changes. I suppose there is a place for every business strategy, but it is quite an accomplishment for Grolsch to have missed the last three decades. Anyhow, they deserve some Overall Hugs if not to remind us of the traditional side of brewing. Proost !

Taste is some type of acidic, I don't think its from alcholol. I think its better than Tuborg Red (Kırmızı) in terms of drinking experience. Anyway I don't like intense beer so I only buy one of these when I buy like lots of corona and carlsberg and drink this as the last bottle for little bir more alcohol in just one bottle. Definitely not horrible beer tho, you can drink and enjoy this.

Aroma is sour and musty. Pours wth a nice, thick velvety head (but then again, so does pee from time to time). Flavor is licorice (not in a good way) and cough syrup. This is beer made for getting drunk, if you can get it down.

Very very very sweet beer. You can get diabetes from this beer. Be careful. The most sugary beer i've ever tasted in my whole life.
I don't recommend this to anyone unless you are a candy addict.

6,5 ABV version produced by Efes Moldova under supervision by Grolsch Bierbrouwerij N.V.
Much darker in color than a normal euro lager, its color reminded me of peach juice, but with the same clarity you would expect from a lager. Pretty high carbonation can not hide the increased ABV, that feels rather unnatural.
Smell is full of alcohol and faint spices, some fruit too.
Taste is very blunt, some alcohol traces, just your extremely average lager. However, the black can has a lovely design. Anyway, compared to a bottle of Chisinau beer, this one is nowhere near it. Don't get me wrong, Chisinau is a fairly average, yet honest beer. Amsterdam Navigator is not catastrophic by any means, still not good enough. Worth a try only for the sake of trying it, but don't expect any fireworks.
