DATE: April 9, 2022... OCCASION: Will begins his reign as NCAA bracket champ with Star Wars: Episode I... GLASSWARE: Victory nonick... pours a dark mahogany brown body, totally opaque... its head is beige, creamy and staid in a single-fingered thickness, leaving rings around the glass.... milky lactic intensity, with soft hazelnut and butter, chocolate sweetness, toasted malts, and the lightest hint of citric hops... first sip is medium-bodied, engaging at the teeth, and creamy at the finish--a grainy, lingering end at that... a hearty, warming beer that approximates a milk shake-and-coffee hybrid... coffee and chocolate front and center, with some milk and nutty undertones present as well... plum, hard fruits, and toasted malts provide a gritty undergirding... an agreeable, chewy and filling porter, fortifying on a cold night such as this....

A - Dark brown pour with dense light caramel colored creamy foam resting on top.
S - Toasted cocoa/chocolate and hazelnut abound on the nose with a slight bit of char. The aroma here is rock solid and intoxicating!
T - Follows the nose and a big surprise there. Toasted cocoa, toasted chocolate, light char, hazelnut, and a perfectly balanced finish.
M - Medium body with a silky soft, slick texture that's dry on the back of the tongue.
O - This is a Porter that's definitely worth a try, I'd buy more of this one.

Pours a dark chestnut brown color. A fingernail length foam head displays good retention.
Enticing aroma highlights notes of chocolate and hazelnut. Additional notes of toffee, dark toasted and biscuity malts.
Opens sweet but with a nutty and roasty balance. Nice combination of hazelnut, walnut and milk chocolate sweetness. Notes of roasty, slightly charred malts, creamy malts, bittersweet dark chocolate and coffee. The gentle balancing bitterness comes from the roasted malts and earthy hops. The finish is smooth, creamy and roasty.
Medium to full bodied and very smooth and creamy. Mouth coating and malt forward with a decent balance. The carbonation is relatively gentle.
The hazelnut flavors are the star of the show. This was a pretty tasty porter, a tad sweet, but decent as a dessert beer.
