Market Series Cerveza is clear and medium amber in color, like ripe hay. Head is rocky, white, and decently lasting.
True to its name, the first thing I smell is hops. Up front hops give me the leafy, grassiness of European hops, much like you'd get from a good Czech pilsner. Bready maltiness comes in beneath hops, giving support in the form of soda crackers and lightly toasted grain. Coming in behind the grain is a hint of lemon juice and a quiet whiff of sulfur.
On the tongue, Market Series Cerveza is smooth and reasonably light in body. Soda crackers and grainy malt lead into a smooth, rounded center where I find a little sweetness combined with flavor of lemon candy. Refreshingly round center moves quickly into a dry, lastingly hoppy finish. As with the nose, the finish offers up the leafy, grassy flavor of European hops.
This is a very decent lager, reminding me of a good Czech pilsner. It's rounded and refreshing in the middle, malt profile is light and bready/biscuity in nature. And the finish is crisp and bitter, assertive enough to balance out the rest of the flavors without being unnecessarily bitter.
