Lambiek Fabriek "Oude Geuze Bord-Elle"
75 cl green glass bottle, "BOTTLING DATE 02 21"
Notes via stream of consciousness: Its hazy deep golden body appears orange in the full glass, and is capped by a short head of foam that drops readily but maintains an almost complete surface covering. The most beautiful aroma of Brettanomyces greets you in the nose with notes of bruised apple and pear, suggested acidity, wet straw, minerals, damp wood, dried orange zest, and a drip of fresh lemon juice. The flavor confirms all of those notes with a lot more lemon, some grainy malt, a light bit of grassiness, some leather, a touch of dried apricot, and a hint of metal. It's acidic but not harshly biting, and surprisingly flavorful - on the other hand, this is a very big geuze so I should've expected that. It's not bitter, and there is a dollop of sweet malt in the finish, but it finishes mainly dry and almost oaky. The alcohol is present but very well cloaked for being 10.5% ABV. In the mouth it's firstly acidic, but then also medium bodied and zesty with carbonation. The head eventually dissipated completely but it also left a big blob of lacing around the glass where it was initially formed. All in all I find this to be a fantastic geuze that's satiating, also quite compelling, and easy to drink because of its malty girth.

A 750ml corked and capped bottle, bottled in February 2021. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen gueuze glass.
Appearance: A hazy golden orange colour with a one finger white head that had decent retention, while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Tart, lemon, lime zest, apple, damp wood, funk, hay.
Taste: Sour, tart, apple, pear, white grape, lemon, lime zest, wood, funky, musty.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: I prefer my Geuze’s to be lighter and crisp, like something great for a hot summer day. However, the high ABV here, while not entirely noticeable, did feel a bit heavy.

Lambiek Fabriek's answer to Cantillon LHD and 3F De Langste Kook, a high gravity gueuze blend.
A little bit darker orange than usual, saturated color, good clarity, ample foam and lacing.
Aroma has alternating whiffs of sweet malt, alcohol, lemon, and apple. Still a little rough around the edges.
Taste is similar, a sweet barley malt note, light alcohol burn, moderate lemony acidity. Dry oaky finish.
Full bodied, ample carbonation, though it doesn't feel completely melded together and cohesive yet.
Overall it could use some time to meld a bit, at 10.5% ABV it could easily age another year or much longer.
Thanks to Mark for sharing this unique Gueuze blend from Lambiek Fabriek.
