Serving: On tap at the Redhook Woodinville Brewhouse in Washington state
Served: 4 July 2015
A bit late in reviewing this one, but better late than never!
Appearance: Difficult to tell the exact color in the dark brewpub, but it looked like it had very assertive copper/amber colors compared to many other APAs. Crystal clear. Had a small white head, but I think the lack of head was aided by the tumbler pint that was overfilled.
Smell: Soft, dank, citrus hop notes, like a grapefruit on a humid day. A touch of herbal spiciness. Earthy astringency.
Taste: Rounder than the nose, with citrus and pine hops and a toasty malt backbone. The beer is very drinkable, but maintains a harsh, grainy edge to it.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light with carbonation that burned off to fast for my tastes. The beer was very drinkable when the carbonation was up, but then began feeling rather thin.
Overall: Not a bad brew, and definitely not from a self-billed gateway craft brewery (as our tourguide said), but a brew that has nothing on the big boys. I would get this again if there was nothing better available.
