on tap at buffalo wild wings in billings montana, about what i expected. pretty simple, clean base malt profile, pale two row, straight up, and a bright but mild hop flavor thats not too aggressive or polarizing, but still appealing to a hop head. its mass appeal beer, safe in that regard, but its pretty well done, and honestly i probably like this better than long hammer these days. crystal clear just deeper than golden on the color, short head in a pint glass. it smells like a little citrus peel, minerals, and pancakes cooking. as a stand alone beer, its pretty weak and simple, but in the context of a large order of spicy garlic wings, its a nice companion. enough carbonation and oomph to push through the heavy flavors and greasiness, but also hoppy enough to not be lost entirely in terms of flavor to the wings. in that role, its very serviceable. red hook hasnt done a whole lot of new stuff lately, or at least not that i have seen, so its nice to try their beer again, but this is a pretty basic session type, not much distinct about it.

Ok, it's beer.

When I ordered it, the bartender asked if I was sure... I should have taken her cue.

A nice golden yellow with enough foam that she poured off a couple inches if foam to deliver a nice looking beer with an inch of head in a 20 ounce glass.

A nice hoppy smell and I was hopeful.

The taste is slightly bitter without any pleasant balance. The hops are not at all complex, just one sort of sharp bite.

Brand new from Buffalo Wild Wings in association with Redhook Ale Brewery. Here goes:

A: Clear yellow with OK carbonation. Pours an abysmal head with very little lacing.

S: Some pine and grapefruit; lots of floral and citrusy characteristics. Just alright.

T: Kind of weird. Initial taste one of light pine, a smattering of grapefruit, and citrus from the hops followed by toasty caramel malt (latter taste was unexpected). Weird combination of mediocre tastes.

F: Light and watery, but this is normal for the style.

O: OK beer; much rather have the original Game Changer.
