Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a nice copper color with a one finger head of off-white foam. The head fades fast, leaving a great sum of foamy lace rings on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is very malty and sweet with lots of caramel and some big biscuit and grainy malts. Along with these aromas comes notes of spice of ginger and some bread, creating a rather gingerbread aroma overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet malty flavor of a doughy and bready nature with some graininess and a whole lot of caramel, molasses, and brown sugar. Upfront there is also a hint of gingerbread cookie flavor that persists throughout. As the taste advances increases in a brown bread flavor as well as notes of light harvest fruits of apple and pear mixed with a bit of cherry are there as well. Toward the end, a little bit of herb and pine come to the tongue, leaving one with a nice, malty, and sweet, but very balanced taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium to slightly thicker with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the style the feel is great and makes for a nice easy sipping brew overall.
Overall – A rather tasty and robust brew with a great drinkability.
