Not the biggest fan of wheat beers but this was damn good. Foam you could sit on and not get wet. Nice blanket of lacing left behind. The color was dark brown - a bit of an orange hue in brighter light. The taste was wonderful, figs and cloves - sweet but a nice balance. Felt like satin from my favorite blanket when I was a toddler. Overall a fine beer...not the Holy Grail...but a fine beer.

Appearance is a cloudy brown with a nice thick head leaving spotty lace. Smell of the malt, wheat, dried banana and clove spice from the Weizen yeast. Taste again of the malt, wheat, clove, slight banana leaving a light finish. Mouthfeel is light with a good spike of carbonation. Not bad, refreshing, but to Americanized.

A: Poured a hazy brownish color with good carbonation leaving a nice dirty white cap
S: Not to shabby but typical; wheat, a hint ot caramel, banana, clove
T: What feel upfront, then some clove slides in and banana comes out. Backed up by a bit a chewiness and hint of caramel, toffee. Has a nice little booze feel on the end
M: Medium body, well carbonated, a little efervescent on the end
O: Pretty good

Poured from a bomber into my Iron Horse Mug.
A Pours a cola brown color with a thick head that has good retention and leaves some lacing. Possibly the best part of the beer.
S The nose of this has notes of sweet banana, some clove and a bit of bubblegum. Pretty standard for the style.
T The taste pretty much follows the nose with banana, and some clove spiciness. Not bad but really not great either.
M Smooth, yet kind of thick and almost chewy.
Overall this is an alright beer, it seems average as both an example of the style and to my personal taste. There is nothing about it that makes it stand out, but there is nothing about it that makes it terrible. So its a decent beer worth trying just don't have high hopes.

22oz bomber bottled on Apr 25, 2011. Served cold in pint glass. Beer pours a light brown, but very cloudy, with a thin chestnut head. Aroma is both wheaty (must resist urge to ask for a lemon!) and roasty.
Flavor is exactly what the label promises: it's the dunkelweiss analog of an American-style wheat beer, light on hops. Chewy, refreshing, sweet. A solid offering.

Grabbed a bottle to try. Bottled Apr. 25 2011, having 2 months later..
- Pours a very murky brown.. quick finger of off-white greyish head. Rather cloudy brew. Very bubbly thin layer of head left behind and a small ring.
- Bit of funky yeast, bready, a zesty earthy touch, some light sweet malts, a little tartness, and esters. Overall interesting. Lightly grainy.
- Nice bready yeasty esters, wheat malt, tartness, slightly sweet brown sugars, grainy, grassy.. earthy hops.. rather light for how murky the beer looks. No alcohol present really though it is only 6%. Not too bad.. the taste outperforms the look. Light phenols and band-aid present.
- Zesty, little chewy, slightly dry. Rather light bodied, and well carbonated.
- Overall not a real big winner for the brewery. The bottle seems to have some slight phenols and band-aid like flavors sitting in the background. It's not bad for the style, but overall not a very outstanding beer. Bit of a let down. Redhook has some work ahead of them if they want to stay in the game.

22oz bottle from Roth's Keizer store. $4.99
Hazy mid-brown beer with a large frothy light tan head.
Nice phenolic/bubblegum aromas, slightly fruity( plum). Nice
Smooth taste..it has all the elements of a dunkleweisen though..mainlly the banana phenolic. Spicy in the end even peppery.
MOuthfeel is smooth with low carbonation..slightly dry on the finish.
Overall a nice beer and at least representative of the style.
Nice to see Redhook continue the comeback.
Keep it up.
