Chinook Ales Copper Ale--2002--12 oz. Bottle. 5.40% ABV. (4.25 / 5.0) Amber Ale. Unfiltered. Slightly hazy rich dark golden color. Lacy white head. Mild tasty floral fruit front. Crisp smooth yeast crystal malt light sweet caramel body. Balanced citrus hop end. Nice and clean. Buds Back. Sampled 5/23/2002.

Have had this in both in the bottle and on tap.
It's a nice looking beer, slightly copper in color--hence the name. Little to no head. Has a nice clean taste, finishes dry. Very subtle hops, but they are in there. I find it a good session or go to beer--especially if it's hot out.

Beer pours a clear gold color, not much of a head.

Aromas are very faint, slighty sweet and cereal like.

Taste is sweet, light, and a bit crisp and dry on the finish. Pretty bland, but not offensive.

Mouthfeel is slightly above average, not a bad mouthfeel, just nothing special either.

Pretty boring beer, but it's drinkable, and not bad in any way. Session worthy I guess...

Sorry 'bout all those "3's" up there, but that's about what you get with Red Hook products. Nothing too interesting to note here. I like the hoppy aroma, but it doesn't make its way to my palette. Very smooth, mild brew, which works both to its advantage and disadvantage. I could drink these all night long, but why would I?

This beer pours a light amber color with a small head that dies off quickly and leaves a little lacing on the glass. The aroma has a lot of citrus with a little caramel malt. The flavor is slightly malty, but well balanced with the hops. Body is a bit thin and drinkability is good.

Thanks to my buddy Dan for bringing this one back from the north west to Lexington. This beer pours a hazy peach color with a finger of head that falls to coat over top of the beer nicely. The nose is a nice orange and honey sweetness from the malts with just a hint of hop in the backround. The flavor is nice, but a little thin. There is a decent earthy hop in there that is really nice against the caramel and orange sweetness from the malts. The feel is just a little thin as well on the feel, but is still a good brew. Overall this would be a really nice session beer. I think a 6 pack would find its way out of the fridge with ease. Pretty simple, but effective beer.

Pours out to a light amber in the glass with good-sized head. The aroma is that of a lightly roasted malt with some cereal grain overtones. The taste is quite good as it combines the aspects of a summer wheat melded with an amber. It reminded me of a Bell's Oberon mixed with an Amber. Refreshing.

A regional beer from Redhook, not a million style-miles away from their ESB. Actually, this might be slightly preferable. I've only come across this beer at Safeway but that doesn't mean that's the only place it's available. Trademark Redhook buttery malts are at play here, with toffee, caramel sweetness and some graham cracker. Yeast from the bottle provides substance, friction, and some intrigue. The hops are crisp and gentle, lightly smacking but not overly assertive. Mouthfeel ample and juicy without being cloying or thick. Everything in this beer is done just about right; it's not altogether exciting, but it is very well done. Its only feature that is less-than-good is perhaps a slightly "underdone" quality where the raw ingredients all taste fine, but the integration hasn't fully come together. Or perhaps, it was at its peak when it was fresh (bottled 020404), and the beer falls apart reasonably quickly after only a few months. Despite this, it makes for a fine session beer and I'll probably buy it again; I must remember to check the date for optimum freshness and satisfaction.

Picked this up at the local Safeway, came in a short brown bottle with turqouise labeling, wasn't until reading label I realized a Red Hook product. Pours a very copper/honey yellow with a nice creamy head that was suprisingly large. Frothy lacing remained on glass througout. Smell is of bananas, earthy tones and mild honey sweetness. Taste slightly earthy, banana/honey sweetness grabs hold of the tongue, hop bitterness brings a nice crisp smooth ale. Medium bodied and very smooth. A great beer to have during a lunch or a meal, very suprised by how good this was, the price was right at 5.49 a six pack.

Ultimate drinkable, not very excting, which is what I imagine this beer to be. If you want a tasty little beer with dinner or television, this is it.

A surprise I found in the Seattle Airport. Made the 3 hour layover much more pleasant than it could have been. Medium gold color. Mildly hopped with medium malts. Light tasting and refreshing ale. Good flavor, nice balance. Full mouthfeel. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice beer.

This was an all-around decent ale. Not very exciting, but not lacking much either. Only available in the Pacific Northwest right now. It pours a clear gold in color with a marginal white head. The aroma is chock full of citrus fruit notes. There is also plenty of citrus bite and malty sweetness in the flavor and while there is a nice hop bitterness it is balanced. Overall a nice addition from Redhook.

This ale poured a reddish yellow color with medium foam that dissapated in half a minute. The smell was of hop's, with a hint of citrus. The taste was not really hoppy, but medium mellow with a citrus fininsh. Not an over powering beer, just average if that.

Just bought a 6 pack this past weekend. Tried one when I got home, it was not chilled, about 55 degrees, but that's usually a good way to test a beer. I was expecting chinook hops, maybe they used them, but I couldn't tell if they did, which was disapointing. It was bitter, and chinook is a higher IBU hop, I just couldn't recognize the flavor of chinook. Otherwise I am anxious to try it chilled, seems like a really good beer. The other two reviews are very accurate, and I cannot add to them

I bought this in bottle ( six pack) didn't last long as this is a very drinkable beer, the taste is very good , almost fruity..but with unfiltered yeast its almost like a hefe-weisen though I know its isn,t.
If you can find it anywere outside Oregon go ahead and buy it a very nice "session" beer.

Emailed Redhook about this one and they said they are just starting to roll it out. A very nice gold in color with a good white head. Lemon and other citrus fruits in the nose. Citrus and malt sweetness dominate the mouth. Bitterness is fairly high and becomes more prominent as it warms. A pretty good beer.
