Whether you're in San Diego or Tijuana, you don't have to look far to find street vendors serving up fresh fruit with lime and chili. We took that classic combo and brewed our interpretation of this street-sold slice of heaven. It starts as a classic San Diego IPA -- dry, refreshing and hoppy as hell, then we add fresh mango and a blend of chili, lime and salt for an authentic flavor that will have you saying "No Güey!"

Bought at Petco Park in 16 oz can for Padres vs. Rockies. Day game. Perfect weather. Mild mango on the nose. Flavor follows. Just a hint of mango. Mild hoppiness Decent beer, but gets bump for location. Go Padres! Pads win 3-1

Decided to pick one of these up on a recent trip to Trader Joe’s. Was not looking forward to it for four reasons: 1) it was more than six weeks old, 2) got it warm, 3) it was one of only three beers on Beer Advocate from SouthNorte and 4) it only had a 2.71 (albeit two ratings) on Beer Advocate. Description called for, “It starts as a classic San Diego IPA -- dry, refreshing and hoppy as hell, then we add fresh mango and a blend of chili, lime and salt for an authentic flavor that will have you saying "No Güey!" Huh. Sounded interesting.
Poured a gold-to-light amber semi-clear color with two fingers of frothy white head. Various bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent foamy layered lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled lime, pine forest, mango, pepper, Cascade, citrus and light caramel malt. Addition of chili pepper from the can. Wow. Surprisingly good on the nose. Was looking forward to the taste. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste was not as good, but still solid. In order got mango, chili pepper, pine forest, lime, guava, Cascade, caramel malt, bitter mango rind and wood. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Wow. Liked this much more than I thought I would. Looking forward to having it again. (Overall - 3.75)

Described as a hoppy mango IPA with chili. No evidence of either. Zero mango, zero chili, zero character. Light, clear, lacking in anything unique. I had to ask the server if it was the same beer from the description. Apparently it was. Sent it back, and the server was gracious about it.
