aside from needing a name like all the rest of the beers in here, this red ipa has a lot going for it. for one, its super balanced, not too sweet from the crystal malt in here, and not too bitter on the hops, which leaves us a real drinkable and well rounded glass of ale. i do personally tend to prefer this style when its a little more robust, dank pine and swirling oils and alpha acid, crisp and snappy bitter at the end, ripping through the bigger grain base, but thats not what we have here at all. instead its quite mild, which i think will serve to turn people who think they dont like hoppy beer on to these styles. the aroma is great, tangerine peel and grapefruit, with a vegetal freshness that is undeniable, yet not quite as pronounced as in their american ipa because of the biscuity baked malty complexion, which adds a lot of body and character here without interrupting the hops too much. the balanced nature and moderate bitterness has me thinking its like a fusion between an amber ale and an american pale, rather than an ipa, but thats a fine point of little consequence when drinking on it. lacking something to make it memorable, but a solid glass of beer here, full of flavor and not too sweet at the end, which is its other major success to me...
