Appearance: Poured with only a half finger of head, which was really the only disappointing part as it retained exceptionally well and produced ample lacing in spite of a clouded yellow body that shows a lower amount of carbonation that really puts itself forward when agitated.
Smell: Herbal hops with a touch of grapefruit thrown in backed by notes of Pineapple and bready malt. Didn't really need warming to come out and came with decent potency.
Taste: Bready malt starts us off with some spiced herbal notes that then turn to a nice build up with herbal and citrus notes that while mild, never get out of control and ends with a Pineapple and slight pine snap. Very well balanced, and while a bit mild for a Pale, I actually seem to appreciate it quite a bit.
Mouthfeel: The carbonation adds a sudsy taste to the whole beer that restrains the bitter elements masterfully but does come across as a bit insubstantial. The transitioning is good and I enjoy the clean mild bread aftertaste.
Drinkability: On the lighter side of medium bodied, probably due to the carbonation. Easy to drink and a pleasure to do so at that. It does get a bit gassy but the crispness it offers are worth that minor complaint.
Final Thoughts: A well done, all around great pale ale that understands it's just that. A pale ale, not an IPA in disguise. That said, I think many would find it a bit too mild for their liking, but I very much enjoyed it. It's very easy to drink and approachable. Two thumbs up.
