Purchased in January. Canned 1/9/18.

Pours a pitch-black hue with a thin tan head. Slightly smoky in the nose with roasted coffee and cocoa. Smoky with dark fruit and coffee. Slick mouthfeel due to the peanut butter. Finish leaves something to be desired. I'm going to go ahead and admit that it could have been creamier. Either way, well worth a try on the name alone. I feel that Farnham's VT operation does not get enough respect. I'll rectify that.

This was poured into a snifter (I thought this was an imperial stout) and well, though I see it says American Stout here, in my head, I said 'screw it.' Take it or leave it for the rest of my thoughts. But the ABV is at 8%, though, eh, whatever, here's the rest.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a head that seemed to jet the hell out of there. I mean, this thing didn't want to last no matter how hard I poured. In turn, there was barely any lace.
The aroma seemed to bring in the peanut butter in a semi-salty sort of way. Slight roasty coffee, moderate milk chocolate and then the sweet side of the coffee. Where's the bacon?
The flavor was moderately sweet with some saltiness coming in nicely and then a slight nutty to roasty sort of meshing underneath. Took a little bit but the peanut butter sweetness did show up and seemed pretty nice. Slight aftertaste of the peanut butter to semi-nutty sort of sweetness coming through with a little bit of milk chocolate.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fairly decent. ABV felt as projected. Slight peanut butter sort of finish with just a touch of milk chocolate sweetness.
Overall, as an American Stout - it's pretty good, but the ABV seems a bit high for this style No worries, I think I could come back to this one.
