Pours a dark golden hue with a thin head into the glass. Yes, it's not your typical RIS and thus the dilemma of rating the look. Sweet, slightly roasted coffee with cocoa. What sorcery is this? Cold brewed coffee with cocoa. It has a touch of cream toward the back. At 9%, your brain might not realize that you're still drinking a RIS when it looks nothing like one. I like this and it's only the second example of a "blonde" stout that I have sampled. Well worth a shot on curiosity alone. Kudos.

Can dated 01/09/2018.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark amber/brown color with a thin cap of a little white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Some clingy messy lace wound around the top of the glass.
The aroma had a sweet creamy/lactose-like mentality about it - up front, somewhat like cold brew coffee. Light espresso notes came through as it warmed. Ended with a little bit of milk chocolate.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side initially with a developing little bit of bitterness coming from the coffee. Slight sticky white chocolate-like sweetness in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it due to the sweetness coming across. I'd say it wasn't cloying, but almost starting to come close to that as I delved in further on my sips. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Continued creaminess throughout on my tongue. Finish was moderately espresso sweet to a slight dry sort of milk chocolate-like quality.
Overall, weird beer to be honest, I mean, I liked the aroma the best - if anything. The brewer said "blond" and that wasn't and the flavor well, it's somewhat "stout-ish," maybe/kinda/sorta. Would I want this again, not sure.
