far and away my favorite of the four beers we had in here. this is a full flavored but super low alcohol porter brewed with honey. i go back and forth on honey in dark styles, it so often gets overrun by the roast and dark chocolate notes inherent in the dark grain these styles are built upon, but when done well, the honey can make them delicate and rich and summery all at the same time, and thats exactly what happens here. the honey makes it a tiny bit sweet, but its a different kind of sugary than grain sugar, and its not a problem for me here. it has floral and citrusy notes to it, which gives the beer a sort of chocolate orange complexion overall which is unique, a killer smoothness, and cool balance from the chocolate and even light smokiness of the malts underneath the honey. the flavor is amazing, the interplay between the honey and the grain is next level, and this somehow has a lot of body and richness for how low in alcohol it is, a perfect late summer porter if i have ever seen one. really brilliant use of the honey here, this is a wonderfully recipe than has been executed to near perfection! really well done! yum.
