Poured a pint canned 10/18/22 (13:43:33 SPACE ODDITY) dot-matrix printed on can bottom, an intriguing code, into a pint Spiegelau IPA glass on 12/29.22. Can has a pretty "states of matter series" rainbow-colored abstract forcefield graphic with the helpful note: "Subatomic particles that transmit the strong force that binds Quarks together. Also...double dry hopped with Rakau and Nelson Sauvin hops producing a Big Bang of passion fruit and lychee." Head is thick and persistent. Color very turbid, an SRM 4 white-orange, nearly opaque, with interesting orangish yeast crud settling on bottom. Smells wonderfully hoppy floral aromatic peachy melons tropical fruit-trees flowering. Tastes like the mangosteens I used to enjoy in Mvuasi, southwest Congo. That's Garcinia mangostana, like lychee but better. Excuse the recherché taste notes, but Rakau and Nelson Sauvin truly work great together! Enough bittering in there so the Sea of Gluons doesn't wash away into sweetieland the way too many NEIPAs do IMHO. I'd give can a higher "look" score than the chunky orange julius aspect of this brew in a glass, but I probably need to get used to this appearance when it tastes so good. Carbonation just right, malting not particularly noticeable tho maybe oat wheat bread? The bittering comes out more in aftertaste, leaves a good tanning on my tongue right where I like it. Overall gotta love Ithaca for harboring this liquid quark binder!
