Enjoyed at the source! This packs a slight punch with the chiles. Lighter on the body than I had expected, with just enough heat to make it stand out.

Had it at the brewery from tap. Rich dark brown color with decent head and lacing. Strong dark berry smell and taste. Nice dark chocolate flavor with a bit of coffee. Nicely malty, comforting.

probably my favorite beer i had in here, and one of the best spice porters i can recall ever having. i believe they said they won a gold medal for this, and i can understand why thats true. its coal black from the tap with an almost nitro looking head on it, creamy and dense and lasting, and the beer doesnt have so much viscosity as to be intimidating or anything, but it definitely appears sturdy. aroma here is smoked pepper, bitter dark chocolate, and faint cinnamon, none of it overdone at all, and a ton of roasty malts giving off a fresh brewed coffee character and some bitter balance. they use three different peppers in here, but none of it is hot, so tastefully dosed. i get the earthiness, the dried concentrated pepper essence, but no burn. its nice with the cinnamon, which only comes on in the finish. vanilla is mild too, its natural and sexy in here, but it doesnt take over the beer. the balance of additives in here is splendid, as good as it can be, and i am impressed with how layered it is and how much i taste with every single sip. the base porter is big too, loves the chocolate in here, and would stand up as very good on its own. the complexity and drinkability here are in rare combination, and the overall quality of this is through the roof. i had not heard of these guys before our trip to san antonio, but this was one of my favorite beers from the entire trip. memorable. they should be proud of this one!

Great tasting porter with the feel of spice without it overpowering your taste buds! Goes down smooth and warms the mouth and body. Enjoyed one at the brewery and took home a can for later. Will be on the look out for this next time!
