a hazy ipa, a fine beer, but i really didnt love it, and found the hoppy stuff here to be not at all what they do best. i liked the strawberry milkshake ipa a lot better, and this one and the india pale lager were both a little bit underwhelming. there is that overhopped harshness, that vegetal burn that lingers in the finish, even where the hops arent very bitter, there is an intensity that stays on the tongue after the swallow, and it a feature common in the style, but something i really dont love, and something that really cuts into drinkability for me. that said, the hop profile aside from that is nice here, juicy and citra forward it seems to me, although im not sure whats actually in here. sweet oily lemon, lemon balm, and even a waxy orange blossom honey thing, some neat nuance and obviously very fresh. i wish the beer was cleaned up a bit more, a little refinement would go a long way. the body is full and heavy and starchy, and the carbonation doesnt lift it up enough. it warms up poorly, as a lot of these do, and its just not quite there. given how good the milkshake ipa was though, i bet these guys make this better next time around. dial back the hops a tad, lighten the body, and you have a better pint, at least in my opinion.
