This is the beer to drink on those extra cold evenings, nursing a mugful while sitting inside our taproom and away from the harsh outdoors, or cozied up at home in front of a roaring fire. At its core are simple ingredients and time-tested lagering techniques. No adjuncts, gimmicks, or added flavors… just a nice blend of Bohemian base and dark malts, fresh Saaz hops, and plenty of cold conditioning. It’s dark as winter's night, with subtle toasted bread and dark chocolate notes shining brightly through like the stars they are, yet still crisp enough to warrant one more mug before bed.

Brownish black body with a full oatmeal colored head. Cocoa and roasted malt lead the nose with some shallow earth and coffee supporting. Taste is roasted malt carrying straight up chocolate with vanilla, earth, dark nut and cocoa dusted dark yeast accents, ultimately not very deep for the style. Feel is medium-light bodied with a drier froth defining note to soften the roasted base

Canned 1/11/24; drank 4/2/24 @ the Yarchives.
Black/brown appearance.
A violent pour yielded a HUGE tan head; a thick curtain of frothy tree-rung lacing remained.
Chicory, dark chocolate & cream notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Chicory & cream flavors up front; burnt wood and a syrupy aspect on the finish.
I think this has potential, but like most Twelve Percent brewed beers I try, it doesn't ultimately work. I'd love to try the brewer's recipe at the source.

16oz can.
L: Dark brown, almost black, with one finger of mocha head that leaves patchy lacing.
S: A dose of man flu has restricted my olfactory sense but a soft cocoa aroma is still noticeable.
T: Brown bread and cocoa. Nicely dry.
F: Medium/light body with foaming carbonation, a crisp mouthfeel and a smooth finish.
O: A super refreshing lager with chocolatey malt notes for the darker months. Excellent body and mouthfeel.
