Pours black with a caramel colored head of foam that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is heavy on the rye and booze. This is a boozy beer, my goodness. I can also detect chocolate and to a much lesser extent, coconut. Taste is again, heavily boozy, with strong chocolate profile and a coconut touch at the end of the throat. Sweetness is fairly high here. The rye tempers the brew nicely and is a prominent feature of the profile.

Blind pickup of a 12 oz. can off a local singles stack. Sometimes these stupid purchases work out wonderfully, sometimes…not. I’m an impulsive human being.

The pour is blacker than anything in my basement & the evident carbonation falls quickly to resounding silence. The nose is all sweet molasses & malts.

Lil Bit of Wonderful – Rye Barrel Aged is accurately names – so “lil” it’s barely discernable. The milk sugar is aggressive, sweet & thick. Rye barrel is dull, flat, with a touch of chocolate.

Judgment was rendered after the first sip & it wasn’t favorable. This is dull, dull, dull.

Served from the can in a shaker pint glass.

Pours a deep midnight hickory topped by a finger of khaki foam. The nose comprises rye barrel, roast, light toast, a touch of molasses, vanilla, and mild toasted coconut. The taste brings in more of the same, the barrel still making a strong impression, and some mild cocoa powder finding its way into the mix as well. The body is a hefty medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a mostly smooth feel. A pretty solid rye-barreled stout, though the barrel verges on the prospect of being a tough obstreperous.
