12 FL OZ. can
Served in a stemless wine glass
This beer pours copper colored and is topped with a couple inches of fluffy tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
Sweet and malty upfront. I get some tea aroma. I get some citrus and an earthy aroma and a little pine.
Sweet malt and tea flavor upfront. Gives way to an earthy flavor. Finally, citrus in the finish.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
Very solid, old school IIPA

thanks again to Ken for giving me a can to try!
L: for some reason I was expecting NEIPA, but it’s not; amber body, mild haze, tall & frothy ivory head; thick lacing coats the glass
S: earthy & herbal mixed with pine & citrus and grainy malt
T: big grainy caramel malt backbone; pungent & assertive piney bitterness; pithy grapefruit & orange meld with some spicy & earthy hop flavors
F: full body, resinous, moderate carbonation, pungently bitter finish with earthy pine lingering on the dry finish
O: this seems very west coast to me and I really don’t think it needs any sort of “coastal” designation - it probably hurts it’s credibility if anything. As an ordinary DIPA, it’s very good.

An OK IIPA, but also not.
Calling itself an "East Coast Style Double IPA", this is mildly wrong on two counts. First it comes across more as just an AIPA. Second... if "East Coast" is NEIPA as is commonly understood, 9 WT is not one. It Looks, Smells and Tastes like a West Coast AIPA. If we of the BA site argue too much about styles, it seems to matter when a micro like Ludington makes a stylistic mistake like calling this East Coast.

Nice crisp IPA that drinks and feels more like a regular IPA than a double. Orange-copper color with a little head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells nice, good mixture of herbal, floral and citrus hops. Tastes similarly, with a great balance between the hoppy bitterness and malt backbone. Also faint notes of vanilla and bread. Nice smooth mild mouthfeel, great carbonation. It felt more like a regular sessionable IPA because the higher ABV was well-hidden.
