Had Sledge poured from 12-oz. can into tulip.
An extremely interesting beer, this Saison hits you with a tart note upfront just to show it can, then is all about the malty fruitiness, finishing dry.

Deep gold color with bountiful, lasting white cap and lacing.
Aroma of slightly tart over ripe fruit, pear perhaps, supported by an earthy base.
When I started pouring I glanced to see if I was holding a can and hadn't grabbed a Duvel by mistake. Yeah, it kicks up a glass full of foam but I don't think that's due to any brewing flaw, rather just the nature of the thing. Thoughts of Belgian brewing continued as I started to drink. On entry this is a floral, fruity mix of flavors with some depth, very mild tartness which serves as a balance and a fair amount of earthiness in a good way. Some hoppiness weaves in and out from mid palate to the aftertaste where some hop bitterness emerges that flows back into the fruitiness. Smooth, clean, no sourness, to me this drinks more like a Belgian Pale Ale than the tart/sour style of Saison.
Medium texture with balancing carbonation.
This is an inspired creation that blends the elements of a rustic farm style brew into an easy drinking food friendly form.
