Nordic Dubbel
Brother Roland is the beer we’d get if the Trappist Monks of Belgium settled in the small towns of Norway. Named after the great Norwegian Jazz Trumpeter, Roland Greenberg. Brother Rowland is a harmonious blend of malty flavors, alcohol warmth, and a citrusy yeast finish. Sit. Sip. Get lost in the sounds.

Bought a 4 pack on a beer run to Woodman's Kenosha. UnTappd's 102 ratings (averaging 3.8) starting before Christmas 2020 (probably a taproom release on The Winter Solstice) with cans sold early in the New Year.
So what am I doing drinking this on a hot, muggy day in July ? For starters, I'd been inside most the day and already had refreshment. But, I also experimented and drank this next to a summer salad and the Brother's dark fruits worked amazingly well to balance the spicy leaves; although it did not cut through the salad's oil like a hoppier ale would.
11/5/21 Had a second can. Drinking an untested dubbel in summer does not help produce good reviews (the above is short) and ratings (I've reduced most categories of the original rating.) Brother Rowland has a problem: it is called flacid yeast. It does not make for a good dubbel which is a very cultured beverage. However, I do like that Gathering Place is helping to renew my second most favorite Midwest city. So I give them good Overall Hugs. And I may even try another Belgian from them since they seem to be trying to specialize in that tradition. But this specialty is a hard task for a four year old.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
