Predominant caramel flavors here which is very nice but also with some taste of alcohol which is not the best. Even with that slight negative note, I did like this quite a bit. Very malty and interesting. Light brown color matching the caramel taste. I definitely want to try more of this style to compare.

Served on tap at Whiskey Road, Cedar Falls, IA, in a snifter. Clear reddish-brown in color, with brilliant ruby highlights. Not much head to speak of, probably due to the tap pour. Notes of light caramel and roasted malt on the nose and palate, along with some herbal grassiness and a little barnyard funk. Nicely bitter, with a crisp and slightly astringent finish. I'm all about table beers, and this one made for an exquisite pairing with Whiskey Road's spicy southwestern egg rolls. Overall, an excellent beer from a fine brewery.
