On-draught @ the brewery. $7/14oz pour.
5.3% ABV. Brewed with spelt, Belgian saison yeast, and foraged Sumac berries with stems.
Pours a peach pinkish orange colour. Head is white but short lived.
Citrusy yet dry, with a Juniper like quench inducing feel on the palate I wouldn't consider particularly pleasant. Peach ring candy, mandarin orange syrup, stale wheat, 2-row.
Not an unpleasant or undrinkable beer, but certainly rustic and rough around the edges. Certainly feels like a beer the yeast is in control of, not the brewers. And in that sense I suppose it's a lively saison.
The Sumac doesn't feel seamlessly incorporated.
