On the backside of Dodgytown and Shadyville Heights amongst the looming grain silos and abandoned train tracks, what are we doing here? Brewerying, that’s what we’re doing here, but I suppose you’ve guessed as much. Started across the street at that other place there (me, pointing) and came back across the street to here where our car is parked out front; this being a one-two. Hard time in Buffalo, yo, with the talls and special guest Big Dog...
It’s a laaaaarge century+ old barrel factory building with a brewery, distillery, Kombucha maker, Café, and a, well, it was a wine & cider bar but now cocktails, maybe. Everything all at once. Brick walls, wood tie posts, rafter ceilings, & plank wood floors angled this way and that. Framed windows and boxed shelving units with bottles. Old cooperage factory with pieces, tools, & parts of things. And screenings overhead suspended. Vintage adage pieces. 6 tables over there and 1 over here. And then a bunch of other businesses this way and that.
It’s got a neat, renovated stained copper topped question mark shaped bar, with a brick base, and foot bar. Seating for none during Covid times or maybe it’s always like this, who knows? 8 tap logo handle row on the barback and a pair of cylinder upright trios. All sorts of glassware stacked, shelved, & dangling there, and Mexican soda & liquor, too. A 3 vertical panel board above lists signature cocktails, house beers, and Kombucha, cider, guest tap, and frozen slushees goings on. They do beer flights, fill growlers, and have onsite goods bottled to a go-go.
8 house beers (Faded Clauz, Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout, 9%; Buckstar, Coffee Cream Porter, 5.2%; Strummer, Belgian Blonde Ale, 6%; Sticky Trees, IPA, 6.5%; Sticky Icky, Hazy IPA, 6%; Haggen, NYS Lager, 4.5%; Space Monkey, Episode 5, Imperial IPA, 9.5%; Dank Sinatra, IPA, 6%), + Genny Light, a pair of ciders (Steampunk Cider, Original Stump Blower Cider) and a pair of Kombuchas (Snowy Owl Ginger Beer & Tart Cherry Vanilla). And they do cocktails, too. I had the Sticky Trees, IPA, & the Haggen, NYS Lager, both were very good.
Went upstairs to the event space, it’s a massive vaulted room with a bar. High ceilings, big brick, catwalk to the rear room with strung baby lighting, it’s an amazing space. And a staircase to the Woodward observatory or something not really that, an outdoor perch, chairs and a few tables there.
Just a couple of beers and out this afternoon, as there’s still much to see. The beers I had were both solid. Cool vibe, nice folks, good beers.

Small bar, but lots of high top tables and some outdoor sitting during the summers. Nice location, very friendly and helpful bartenders all 3 times I have been there so far. Large selection of IPA style beers, not too much variety. Good spot to check out with a restaurant upstairs and some other things being added nearby - winery, snacks and the kayak rental is right there for those who are adventurous.
