Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of light biscuity malt and tropical/citrus hops, with notes of passion fruit, grapefruit and some gooseberry, as well as just a hint of red berries and lactose. Taste is a great balance between light biscuity malt and sweet tropical, zesty citrus and slightly acidic gooseberry and red berry hops, with notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, gooseberry and redcurrant, as well as only faint hints of the lactose coming through. Finishes on a tangy note, with a light bitterness and some passion fruit and gooseberry lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Definitely my favorite brew from Sudden Death so far, of whom I didn't really have much of a high opinion until now. This is rather nice though and I love the use of Calista here, a hop that I personally really like but never really got those noticeable gooseberry notes from. When I realized this was brewed with lactose, I was skeptical at first, but it really does stay very much in the background here, thankfully. Not a hint of the ABV to this either.
