Appearance: Clear yellow, big head.

Smell: Floral, yeast, seltzer, light grassiness.

Taste: Starts light and mildly sweet, mild breadiness and mild grassiness. The floral note comes through as well. Light bodied. Finishes with the mild bread and grass.

Overall: GreenBayBA sent this one home with me, I believe Blogjackets brought it. Very nice easy drinking pilsner. Not super hoppy but nice balanced flavor. The other Wooly Pig beers I tried were also great!

Pours a slightly hazed straw color with a thumb of eggshell colored head. Fairly effervescent through out, I drank some in a regular glass, but most in a Keller Glass, Very good head retention & sheets of lacing

S: Grassy, grainy, floral/perfumy notes

T: Sweet grain, dryness, grassyness up front. Bready sweetness, some grainy, a little grassy notes & dryness as this beer warms a little bit of woody hops. Finishes dry, fairly sweet with some woody bitterness

MF: Light/medium body, restrained carbonation, skews a little sweet for the style

Drinks easy, doesn't quite take me all the way back to Germany, I need a little more bitterness

500ml bottle served in a footed pilsner glass. Don't see a date on it. Gifted to me by @beergoot.

Pours a hazy light amber. Big, fluffy head. Strong retention. Eventually settles into a crinkly, dry-looking, crusty cratered moonscape. Moderate to high active carbonation. Smell is bready and grassy, very grainy, lots of yeast.

Taste is light, mineral-y, grassy/earthy bitterness, yeast and grain comes through pretty strong in the flavor just like the aroma. Bread is there, but lighter, something kind of nutty about it, too. Slowly, some citrus builds up, enriching everything else.

Mouthfeel is light, clean, maybe thin. Overall, very nice, like the graininess.

L: pale straw with a slight haze. Thick fluffy head with good retention and lacing
S: warm biscuits with a slight floral tinge
T: hops with a bread backbone. Very clean
F: crisp and light
O: outstanding. You can almost taste the craftsmanship that went into this beer. Really enjoying it. The Pig Farm is a delightful place too. Worth the drive to Amish country. Highly recommend

500mL undated bottle poured into a becher glass at fridge temp 4.9% ABV, 44 IBU, 11.8°P per the extensive label info. The beer pours mostly bright light gold with nearly white head. The head recedes to an uneven ring and splotchy cap. Nice lacing. The aroma is mild with doughy, pale malt and floral hops. The taste is semisweet floral, grassy hops up front with clean pale malt breaking through mid palate before a firm, medium strength grassy final bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Cleanly lagered. Overall, excellent. This bottle is a real treat.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a five sample flight. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had subtle grain and wheat notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain and subtle corn husk presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Re-review - 10.22.23 - you could not ask for a better beer. Perfect. Bravo!!

Ummmm…every once in a while you come across a showstopper of a beer. The crackery malt blended with a striking bitterness. Perfect balance. Nothing stands out in order to make everything stand out. It’s hard to be satisfying and refreshing at the same time. Prost!!

Received from @beergoot as a gift, drank the next day.
Poured transparent straw color, showing active carbonation and a massive nearly white dense head.
The aroma was mild but did have that biscuit and floral that I really enjoy in a Pils.
The taste, wow, this is one of the best of a specific genre that I remember drinking. The crackers or biscuits are primary but the yeast and hops squeeze in the say hello, so it’s not a one note beer.
Feel is excellent, the sole quibble was how long the head lasted as it slowed me down!
OA, really enjoyed this, thanks Dave!

From the variety pack purchased at the brewery.
Pours a clear pale gold color with a thick fluffy head, good retention.
As with other Wooly Pig I had, this has a nice sweet note as well, love it!

Incredibly clear, pale straw colored body; excellent carbonation thick and frothy white head. Mild grain aroma; bread crust; light herbal notes. Lightly toasted bread base in the flavor; cracker and biscuit; mineral-like; light hop bitterness; communion host wafer. Light body; crisp; gentle warmth throughout; fine bite.

Wow! It's been a while since I've enjoyed this beer, and this go around is stupendous. It is immensely refined and subtle yet certainly lets one know a quality beer is present. It is light and delicate yet with a sublime complexity delivered to the palate. A beautiful beer!!!

Shimmeringly clear gold, its moderate white head settles to a thick fluffy blanket.

An aspect of wheat expresses an almost funky farmhouse quality to it before the crisply round then fluffy soft body adds accents of herbal and floral notes before coming to a bone dry finish. Additional touches of various corns, grasses, and delicate fruit skins develop complexity, but I just can't get over that magnetically intriguing farmhouse sort of quality that makes for a very uniquely delicious pilsner.

I've been saying for a while that we need a solid lager-only brewery here in Ohio and it would blow up, but Wooly Pig is already killing it. Their work is amazing!

A big ol' thanks out to Corey for this one. What a great guy, even if he does have a Mangina.

Zwick'lbier. Sold already. It's beautiful, semi transparent straw colored body looks the part, and more importantly, looks refreshing. Good thing cause I'm parched. The white foam on top is a bit unimpressive and so is its spotty lacing, but hey... nothing is perfect. Streams of tiny bubbles never stop trying to support the thin patchy foam above, but an A for effort.

In one word, this Hoppy Pils smells 'Rustic'. As if the barley and hops were pulled from the soil this very day. Earthy, dusty even, in the best of ways. I love this smell. I could smell it all day long. Simple bready notes, a touch of honey for sweetness, and a dollop of earthy, spicy, and woody hops.

That same sentiment carries over into the flavor seamlessly, though a bit muted. Nothing complex, just raw crushed grain and a simple balancing of hops. If anything, I'd say the single hop is MOST of the flavor. That little drizzle of honey is about the only other detectable malt influence.

This is superiorly light to the point of almost being watery. Light carbonation adds to this effect. It is perfectly balanced I'd say, despite it being labeled 'Hoppy' in regards to bitterness.

Funny. After reading what I've written, it seems like I'm smashing this SMASH bier, but I feel, in fact, quite the opposite. This is the ultimate refereshing beer. I could drink this by the truck load. Unfortunately, this single 16.9 ounce bottle is almost completely consumed.

Thanks again Corey. Prost!
