L: Poured from a growler to a pint glass. Had a dark, mahogany brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, off white, fairly long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.
S: A good aroma of hops, citrus, malt, tropical fruit, chocolate, and coffee.
T: Tasted of fair bit of roasted malt, a good shot of hops (not too much), light coffee notes, lots of tropical fruit (passionfruit), some mild milk chocolate notes, and citrus (orange). This is one of those flavors that gets better as you go along. It's a combination ABA-NE IPA flavor, and after a while, the fruit and darker elements mingle well together.
F: A solid amount of carbonation with a smooth and creamy finish. Medium-bodied.
O: It's definitely an odd thing to mix a black ale with a NE IPA, but this one works. Drinkable.
