I don't see a date on the bottom of the can or the label.
Appearance: The beer is black with a hint of brown around the edges as light shines through. The head is very robust, thick, large, frothy and foamy, with a light khaki appearance. The head has phenomenal retention and lacing.
Aroma: There is a clear pine scent with a hint of garlic. It is pungent and interesting. After a while it started to take on a peach aroma which was interesting.
Taste: Mango and peach up front. It has a very fruity flavor which is very interesting.
Mouthfeel: It's smooth and easy to drink but carbonation feels lacking a tad.
Overall: it's a very interesting beer. The label on the can self-describes this as a "BLACK IPA WITH VETERANS HOP BLEND." The beer does not taste like your standard American Black Ale. It is far more fruity and tropical. It is interesting enough that I would recommend it. In a blind tasting a person might mistake it for a New England IPA.
