L: Poured from a growler to a pint glass. Had a dark, mahogany brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Below average lacing.
S: A decent, if slightly muted, aroma of chocolate, vanilla, malt, coffee, and lactose.
T: Tasted of a hint of coffee (a fleeting presence; not a big factor at all), light lactose notes (not overdone, but certainly present), a lot of vanilla (more than expected), a decent bit of malt (present throughout; a solid backbone), and a bit of chocolate (needed more). Like the aroma, the flavor needed a boost. Slightly thin, but likable.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An uneven beer, but it has its bright spot. Worth a look.
