An experimental sour ale using a porter for its base and aged in wine barrels for 6 months. It's deceptively dark, with dark fruit and chocolate notes as it warms. Not too sour, but pleasantly tart.

draft pour into snifter. glossy black with a thick collar of sandy brown, bubbly foam. heavy oak and wine on the nose with roast from the base porter trying to fight through. it’s pretty unbalanced though and the taste doesn’t get any better. it’s honestly all over the place, unfocused and unbalanced. i like sour ales, i liked the experimental aspect of the description of this beer and i knew going into it that it was probably hit or miss. unfortunately, it’s a miss for me. a thinner mouthfeel that wouldn’t really do a porter justice and doesn’t do this sour ale any justice either. oaky, dry finish. just not much enjoyable about this beer besides its appearance.
