473 mL can of our flagship beer. It is a crisp and clean lagered ale modelled after our favourite European Pilsners. We brew it using only high-quality German Pilsner and Vienna malts along with a blend of European and North American hops - a perfect dockside drinker. 22 IBU

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. My first beer from the Parry Sound, Ontario brewery.

Pretty good but don't think ill take it over some other beers i drink on the regular. It's a decent beer though and i would never turn it down. Pass it around while on the dock in the summer. Drink this beer while your trying to catch fish or on the beach.

can - pours a lightly hazed golden color with a 2 finger tight-pored white cap that lasts......aromas of sweet malts and grassy hops....well rounded mellow character, medium bodied....flavor has malts in front, light fruitiness like a pear cider, hops bitter the palate later....finish has hopping intensify with a light honey-like kiss as the end....this is a good example of the Canadian golden ale style....smooth, refreshing, satisfying north country cottage lawn chair beer

Body is sparkling, clear gold, with an angel-white head, good retention.
Aroma is pale malt with sweetness.
Watery, in both taste and feel, sure makes it easy to drink; to it's credit, it is clean and pure tasting, and without the cloying sweetness in a mass-produced version, actually pretty good in that respect; bit of sourdough flavour, mineral; medium body and light carbonation, clean dry finish, very little hops.
While lacking some body, it IS a refereshingly pure drink, great for a sweaty hot day, with hot dogs or a burger, while you roast in the sun.

Hazy golden colour, monster big head with decent retention and lace. Full juicy nose, pronounced lemony hops, breadiness. Lemon to taste laid over fulsome malt with a short bitter finish. Sweet, almost drifting off into koelsch territory. Very active carbonation adds an aggressive sparkle in terms of mouthfeel. Not a bad brew, worth a try.

Canned February 5, 2018. First appearance from this new brewery in the LCBO. Served cold into personalized beer mug. Review from notes and tasted March 2, 2018.
Appearance - most clear pale golden color. A tiny bit of haze. An inch of forms is poured o top, retention is good and minimal lacing.
Smell - clean and grainy with a touch of caramel malt and some grassy notes. Pretty decent.
Taste - clean again, some chalky graininess, a touch of sweetness. A healthy amount of bitterness for this style. A touch watery to close.
Mouthfeel - well carbonated, medium bodied, about right for a golden ale.
Overall - a pretty good first offering from this brand new brewery from Parry sound. I don't think it will make its way into my rotation, but nothing to sneeze at.

473 mL can from the LCBO; no canning date (although some smudged ink on the base of the can suggests that they at least tried to). Served well chilled and reviewed from notes.
Pours a clear golden-blonde colour, supporting one finger of soapy white head that lasts for several minutes before eroding completely. A frothy collar survives on, as well as a decent-sized band of lovely lacing; looks good to me. The aroma is quite muted but exceeding clean. I'm getting some crackery malts and whole grains, as well as a touch of grassy hops, but that's the short and the long of it.
Its flavour is light and clean, being dominated mostly by grainy, crackery pilsner malt. Hints of white grape towards the middle, leading to some grassy, spicy hops at the finish preceding a dry aftertaste with no lingering flavours. Light in body, with sharp, aggressive carbonation that scrubs the palate, softening only barely as I nurse my glass. Crisp and refreshing; well-made I suppose, but at the end of the day it's fairly forgettable.
Final Grade: 3.78, a B+. Trestle's Golden Ale is a quality lagered ale to be sure - one that is sure to appeal to pilsner fans, and possibly to German lager-lovers in general. Still, I doubt I'll be returning to it on a regular basis - it just can't compete with the imports in terms of price - but I still enjoyed my glass enough to consider picking it up again at some point. Now how about brewing something that the Ontario marketplace isn't already saturated with?
