473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 13 2023 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a crystal clear orange-amber colour, stirring up less than a finger of loose, bubbly, off white-coloured foam that collapses within a minute or two. A frothy collar lives on, encircling a filmy layer on the surface - looks normal to me. Malty-sweet aromas of caramel, toasted bread, digestive biscuits and orchard fruit.
A tasty märzen-style lager, with the flavour profile taking cues from the aroma - toasted bread, biscuits and caramelized sugars are most prominent, with hints of bruised apple and leafy, earthy hops coming later on. Finishes with toffee and biscuits lingering into a malty-sweet, toasty aftertaste that dissipates gradually. Medium-light body with middling carbonation that adds some crispness to this lager's smooth mouthfeel. Fair drinkability - one can per night is plenty for me.
Final Grade: 3.72, a B grade. While Rust Never Sleeps is most assuredly a strong effort from Trestle, I don't necessarily think it's a super-impressive märzen. Yeah, it checks most of the boxes it's supposed to, but it's also a one-note experience - I would've liked a little more German hop presence to counteract the caramelized malt sweetness. Fans of amber and/or malt-forward lagers will appreciate this beer more than I did - I'll buy this again next year if it's available, but I could take it or leave it.

Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A scant tan head on a clear dark copper. The head diminishes to a thin layer. Some patchy lacing.
Malts in the nose. Some dark fruit.
Toffee followed by a mild hop finish.
Light body and carbonation. Smooth and well balanced.
A fine beer. True to the style and my current go to Marzen

Aroma - Cloudy, copper-brown, SRM 12-15. Modest head, minimal lacing.
Smell - Caramel, candied apple, some hop notes-- cedar maybe, definitely resinous.
Taste - Sweet caramel combined with immediate, but controlled hop notes (pine, cedar), followed by palette-cleansing bitterness and a bit of astringency.
Mouthfeel - slightly creamy, good carbonation, medium body
Overall - a nice malty beer with some sweetness up front but finishes dry, slightly astringent. A very nice fall/winter beer.
