Cold IPA is a newer style emerging that offers something a little different than the hazy trend while offering plenty of hoppy punch! This beer is dry and bitter fermented with a clean lager yeast and fruity hops. We used new cryo hop products and Citra to produce a truly modern IPA!

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 12 2024 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear golden-yellow colour, topped with more than an inch of rocky, foamy white head that lasts for just over five minutes. It drapes a full curtain of lace onto the glass as it recedes down to a frothy collar and thin cap; looks great so far. The aroma is muted, offering up hints of bergamot orange, lemon peel and pine needles, with faint suggestions of tropical fruit.
It's very clean-tasting for an IPA, but also a little 'blah', without much in the way of personality. I'm getting understated flavours of apricot, grapefruit, orange and lemon, finishing with a touch of earthy bitterness and pine that dissipates swiftly; the aftertaste is rather dry. Medium in body, with moderate carbonation that adds some spritz, especially early on in the session; later on it becomes a little slick and tiresome. Easy enough to toss back at 6.8%; the alcohol is well-integrated, but one can is plenty.
Final Grade: 3.68, a B grade. Track Pants Forever is reasonably well done for a cold IPA, but as someone with little interest in that substyle, I don't see myself revisiting it all that often. The hop flavours are alright, but lacking in terms of intensity, while the dry finish helps its drinkability. I'd say it's worth a try, and I may end up drinking it again at some point, but I wouldn't search high and low for more. If cold IPAs are your jam, who knows, maybe you'll love it.
