Our raspberry sour is a delightful beer that strikes a balance between tart and sweet. Gently and properly soured, this beer ensures a crisp and approachable profile. Packed with fruity, jammy raspberry goodness, each sip celebrates ripe berries with a refreshing tang that lingers just enough to leave you wanting another taste.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned March 14/25. My third beer from the Parry Sound, Ontario brewery, and for 2025. With both cats Gracie and Sundae...

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Mar 14 2025 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy, translucent pale pinkish colour, producing a thin layer of fizzy head that is in a hurry to be someplace else. A sickly-thin collar is the only remnant, with no cap or lace generation. Low key aroma with hints of real raspberry, as well as hints of wheaty malts, lemon and faint lactic funk.
It's a straightforward raspberry sour with no surprises; raspberry is prominent, with wheaty malts serving as a backdrop. I can't say for sure, but I get the impression that they used real fruit, possibly complemented with flavouring or concentrate - either way, it tastes 'real' to me. Slightly juicy-sweet at first, transitioning to more of a tart, sour note on the back end; faint lactic character at the finish, with more raspberry lingering into the aftertaste. Light in body, with gentle carbonation and a smooth, soft mouthfeel that further supports the 'real raspberry' postulate. Super drinkable.
Final Grade: 3.66, a B grade. Trestle's Raspberry Sour doesn't reinvent the wheel - as far as kettle sours go, this is extremely basic, but it comes together quite well IMO. The raspberry flavours are pleasant, ranging from sweet & juicy to tart & (a little) sour later on. There's not a whole lot else going on, but at the end of the day, what else am I really expecting from a raspberry sour? It's good, not great - certainly worth a try if you've enjoyed raspberry beers in the past.
