this is a really cool beer, a rye based saison with brett, but dark. its deep chestnut colored in the glass under a full inch of light khaki head, nice lace as it drinks and a lot of body evident. the aroma is nice, and while the brett does smell young to me, the beer is interesting enough probably even without it here. its a little sweet and a little nutty, with the earthy spice of the rye very forward with a long boiled sort of caramelized vibe, but this isnt heavy. notes of honey and maple and thanksgiving. the brett is there a little more in the flavor, with a light funk to it and a slight belgian estery profile too, clean though and drying this out nicely. good malt body, plenty of natural toasted rye character, and a bit of richness from the grain as well. dried cherry and raisin, brown bread, and earthy wet funk. a well made beer, delicious and fully satisfying fresh, but probably even more compelling with a little age on it as the brett goes to work a bit more. this place is awesome, these guys are totally killing it!
