an excellent and very delicate berliner here, a new one from these guys and very delicious. it smells far more interesting than just a quick lacto souring, there is yeast complexity here well beyond that. this is open fermented or brett finished or something, there is a mild but distinctive funk here, especially in the finish, more prominent here because of how light the sourness is, they are about equal in potency, making this both unique and delicious. light pear and white wine notes, farmy weirdness, very soft wheat and pils type malt, crackery and dry and minimal but also very pure and clean and just right for summer overall. this is almost saison-esque in its yeast complexion, and there is a nice citrus element at the end too. great depth of flavor in a style that seems to be trending away from being complex and unique. i love how low alcohol it is, and with the low acidity this is really drinkable to a very high degree, especially for a sour type. great beer overall, these guys really impressed me!
