DDH Citra Pale Ale
Rings of Light is the purest expression of Sapwood hoppy beer. We use every trick in our brewing arsenal to saturate it with tropical, citrusy, and melony Citra hop aromatics. Oats provide a creamy body, while our house ale strain creates a richness too often missing from session beers.

16 oz can less than 3 weeks old, poured into a tulip pint glass. Pours a cloudy light yellow color with a large, creamy off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma and flavor feature bright Citra hop flavors - citrus, ripe tropical fruit, hint of grassiness - atop a pillowy and creamy wheaty malt base. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated and not watery. Very impressive for 4.8% abv. Highly recommended.

Poured from the can into a nonic(k) pint glass. Canned Nov 1st 2023.
Muted yellow, with a honey and solid like appearance, not a hue to it whatsoever. However, it's a painted bee pollen like appearance with a real nice creamed white one finger head on top.
Punchy aroma. Large amounts of citrus orange and a spritzy oil of zest and herbs. Hits slightly dank but more herbal and grass like with a real brightness. Hints a little chalky on the malt side, touching a sense of flour and powdery like senses. Still very impressive nose here.
Palate is super impressive. Even in pale ale lightness there's a solid juicy body here that accentuates the hop pleasures. Rolling amounts of citrus orange and lemon/lime qualities. Mild sensing sweetness in the mid palate with just enough grassy bitterness that cuts and makes the beer playful. Fruit punch medley even gets bigger as it seems there is more fruit flavor than expected, pineapple, mango even.
This has that classic New England style quality in a basic pale package. It's also an excellent hop showcase, without the giant juice bomb slam of many NEIPAs. This is a great all rounder and fantastically made pale ale.

14 ounce draft pour into a stemless wine glass at the brewery.
L: Hazy opaque, yellow, not vibrant not drab, 1 inch white head, leaves small amounts of lace, moderate head retention, semi-lively pour.
S: Citra forward, hints of orange, flour pale malt.
T: Light citrus, moderately bitter, leans bitter over a slightly sweet opening, notes of mango, a bit of pepper, melon rind,
clean bitter finish.
F: Smooth light body, not quite creamy, high carb, hardens to a bite at the finish, refreshing.
O: Straight forward but very good, light and refreshing, well done, not overly fruity, nice pool beer.

So much aroma and flavor for a 4.8% beer! Tons of citrus, melon, tropical fruits. Smooth creamy mouthfeel tons of flavor, hints of vanilla.
