Sapwood Cellars Brewery

First stop after landing at BWI, 30 minute drive. Monday night trivia place was buzzing. Located in a business park, small deck outside. Long bar and about 20 tables. They now have food on site, so it met all my needs. Service was fast and friendly, with half pours being my choice for the evening. They even had some bottle pours of their heavy hitters. I order a lot from them on Tavour, so it was nice to actually visit..

 

 

A brewery in an industrial park offering a diverse selection of well crafted beer. Seating available indoor at the bar or tables, as well as an outdoor area off of the parking lot.
There is food available an a Taqueria in the tap room. I did not have any food on this visit, but the couple next to me at the bar said it was good.
This brewery first got my attention seeing it on Google Maps. The 4.9 out of 5.0 star rating accumulated speaks of the consistent quality delivered to almost 500 satisfied reviewers.

Great place; outstanding beers. Lively crowd on a Saturday afternoon. Service very friendly; very helpful. Disappointed that bar staff wasn’t into enthusiastically chatting up their beers. Kinda reserved. Unusual in my experience after over 250+ brewery stops.

Visited in August 2023 during a long road trip... And once before that, and maybe 2-3 times since. In fact, I was there again last week... How have I been there like 5 times already?!... Sapwood has quickly become one of my favorite spots, even with it being almost 2 hrs away... First off, I'll get this out of the way - the food trucks are a huge reason I drag myself through multiple states to go back. So far, I believe I've had Filipino, Colombian, Mexican, and Caribbean grub. All pretty darn spot-hitting... I usually sit at the bar. It's usually packed (but the room is spacious enough to move around). I did go once early on a Thursday. Different crowd, less crowded. I'd do that again... I'm not a superfan of everything they do (still can't fully get on board with hazy-hoppy, though a few do click), but at least everything is of high quality. Poppin flavors. Interesting experimentals. I'm never without important decisions to make as to what I get first, next, and last. I don't think I've ever left without taking at least a couple cans or bottles with me... I'll be back again next time I go to an O's game, if not before. Keep doing what y'all do.

Stellar brewery, beer selection, and quality. Plenty of indoor bar and table seating, and large outdoor patio with heat lamps. The beer selection is diverse and stellar quality … lagers, IPAs, pales, sours, stouts, etc. Highly recommend.

A good brewery with a very lively atmosphere that has wide selection of beers. The New England IPAs I tried were above average. They have a lot of their beers available as singles to go as well as 4 packs, and have a large selection of bottles to go. Highly recommended as a beer trip.

Visited for a couple of pours on a Friday just after work. It seems popular, I walked in 20 minutes after opening and there were already 15 or so patrons enjoying themselves. The taproom is spacious with plenty of places to sit including a large bar. The menu selection was pretty good, still dominated by IPAs and Sours, but it had more other options than a lot of places, Helles, Schwarzbier, English Porter, Weizenbock, Biere de Garde, a couple of Pale Ales and a handful of stouts including an Export stout. Service was good and the place was clean and neat.

They had bottles to go as well as cold cans. There is a separate cooler for mix and match four packs of cans which I really appreciated and was able to walk out with 8 different cans for home enjoyment.

Definitely worth checking out.

Kinda hard to find as it's way in the back of an industrial/office park. Laid back vibe, minimalist décor. Wide variety of styles, but heavy on the NEIPAs. Sours tend to be bottle only, so no samples. Service was as good as you can expect to get from part-time employees. No real food, but they have food trucks come by on the weekends.

i have enjoyed every single beer that i've tried from this brewery. it's located in a business park off a highway, very sneaky. the servers are attentive and it has a cool vibe. i need to reiterate, this brewery makes nothing but excellent beers. if you're ever in the area, i absolutely recommend stopping by.

Spacious with long bar and lots of tables. Friendly and knowleadgeable staff-very efficient service. Good beers. Decent selection.

Visited mid-afternoon on a Saturday. Spacious with a lot of seating - bar, tables, hightops, and additional standing room at barrels. It was a little more than half full and the noise level was surprisingly low. I love the options for full or half pours and the prices are very reasonable. The bartenders were attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable about the beers. Great place and I look forward to going back.

Brewer owned. Both the brewers had successful careers before moving into brewing. Both are now published authors about brewing beer. Both are passionate about brewing beer and the science of beer. All of this adds up to a brewery that puts out excellent products. Right now they have a small brewery in an office park in a suburban area. I imagine it won't be long before they are forced to move to a larger facility. You want to go to a brewery where the brewers are this knowledgeable and passionate.
