It's supposed to be a hoppy red ale with tea. They take their regular hoppy red, Red Branch, and infuse it with South African rooibos. This is not as weird as it sounds. In the late aughts, Surly released several "tea bagged" versions of their flagship beers. The beers were idiotically purged from this website so I can't access my old reviews, but I remember liking them quite a lot.
Here, though, it don't work so good. The pour is tepid. Bitter rooibos dominates throughout. It's fine up front, a little novel, but then it grows quickly unpleasant. There's zero balance, nor any evidence of any attempt at balance. Just--imagine putting a bunch of loose leaf tea directly into your mouth and you'll get the gist of this beer.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
