Bottle pour at Sapwood. Dark brown pour, ring of bubbles. Sweet, sugary aroma, caramel. Taste is brown sugar, the rum barrel kind of dominating the whole affair. Malty, sweet with a gentle boozy backend

500ml bottle poured into a goblet.
More head than expected for the ABV. The khaki head settles to a thin collar in a few minutes but a swirl brings it back. Dark brown pour is almost black in the glass and coats the inside of the glass. Boozy nose, dark fruit, somewhat buttery, like fudge. Sweet, malty, thick and creamy but less boozy than the nose, It is warming but the perceived alcohol is less than expected. The carbonation is just enough to accumulate a hint of crisp bite by the finish. Molasses is prominent, rum barrel is faint though nice, but it's missing Belgian yeast character. Nice sipper but it doesn't come off as Belgian.

Dark brown body with a full oatmeal colored head. Aromas of rum barrel and quad yeast combine to lead the smell with supporting notes of leather, blackstrap molasses, and dried plum. Taste is rum, prune juice with weak yeast, molasses grows as it warms, kinds of breaks down 2/3 of the way through the sip. Feels way too thin, doesn’t have nearly enough definition in the underlying ale or barrel to really grab your attention.
