Imperial Stout with Walnuts and Vanilla Beans
This stout is all about walnuts! We toasted more than 200 lbs of them to add to this toasty-roasty-nutty Imperial Stout. It's less roasty than most of our other stouts to allow the nuts to star. Rounded out with vanilla beans to give it a brownie-batter flavor.

A pint can poured into a Nonic.
This dark roasted brew with a khaki head and little lacing has a lot of flavor.
The roasted malt flavor dominates. The 11.1% ABV also takes a in a dominant roll.
Chocolate, brownie batter flavors, and vanilla beans also come to mind.

Sapwood Cellars Brewery "Shelled"
16 fl. oz. can "CANNED ON 12/17/26 13:49"
$ @ State Line Liquors, Elton, MD
Look: Opaque brown-black body. If you hold it to the light you can see along the edges that it's not clear.
Smell: Sweet smelling with nuttiness that I guess you'd associate with walnut. I get mostly chocolate brownies but there's vanilla in those, right?
Taste: Very rich and sweet with some alcohol cutting through in a good way. Notes of chocolate brownies, chocolate fudge, milk chocolate, nuts, golden caramel, demerera sugar. This is a dessert beer and it should be sweet, which is great, because it still actually finishes somewhat dry because of the alcohol.
Feel: Full bodied and creamy smooth.

Poured on nitro tap into a stemmed wine like glass.
Tan and fine bubbled capped head. Two fingers of cake like foam, coating in concentric rings. Fudge like brown body a little chunky with a deep hint of black. Hits a little sludge looking but bold and nice
Aroma is interesting. Deep roast and heavy nuts without tannic bitterness. Large sweet vanilla and dark fudge chocolate notes with a milky tone. Heated notes of brandy as well nearly fruity.
Palate is rich and decadent. Mouthfeel exceptionally creamy with heated hot chocolate notes and nuts. Exceptionally controlled heat warm but not boozy which is lovely. Mid palate mostly of again.. fudge chocolate and thickness. Less sweetness on the finish and a touch of cream like vanilla.
Real powerhouse when served on nitro
