Pale Ale DDH with Simcoe and Simcoe Cryo.
We love single-hop Pale Ales! Rings of Light (Citra) and Danger of Light (Mosaic) have long been in our rotation, but Simcoe hasn't until now! Its bright tropical mango-leaning American hop aroma is fresh and vibrant over a base of barley, oats, and wheat. A bright easy drinking hop-forward beer for springtime warmth and the return of outdoor drinking!

Draft pour at the brewery.

L: Yellow-orange, fairly hazy, thin white head with moderate retention.
S: Light stone fruit aroma leans mango.
T: Hop forward and pithy, citrus (orange-ish) zest and stone fruit, a bit floral.
F: High carbonation, crisp medium body, peppery feel, slightly creamy underneath.
O: Good APA, but it lacks the Simcoe character I was expecting.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned March 22nd 2022.

Paleish green body, with touches of light yellow color, slight tinging turbid and opaque. Fluffy and creamy topped big controlled white head, with some decent retention but manages to settle with some sticky pill lacing as it falls.

Creamy sensing nose, with touches of light hop oils of spiced pine like orange. Very nicely done with a simple neutral yeast and malt angle, maybe a touch of sweet creamy-ness too. Definitely has some pith going on in this one and zesty citrus oils.

Light bodied but sticks to pale ale territory in the palate. Mid palate hits to light grapefruit with a good amount of bitter rind and oils that are hinted from the nose. Finishes with some good spicy to pine like bitterness, almost tannic. Light bodied flirting with session IPA to enriched pale ale. Not quite in the sweet spot but certainly hitting the right notes.

Very nice light bodied and flavorful pale ale, with touches of new age hazy character.
