Michael’s Great-Grandmother immigrated to America from Ireland in the 1880s. We took inspiration for this Irish stout from the ingredients used in recipes from around that time: Pale Ale, Amber, and Black malts. These are more flavorful (and expensive) than the unmalted barley that comprises a large portion of most Irish stout recipes today. However, we kept the modern balance of restrained alcohol, invitingly dry-roasty finish, and creamy mouthfeel!

Had on nitro. Lighter black body with brown edges, tan foam nitro head. Smell and taste are the same with complex roast though with almost wood root hints added, sharper before nitro malt and yeast takes over. In taste only, date and walnut nuances as this warms up. Feel is lighter but more roasty than guinness, still smooth and frothy. This is a nice take on the style

16 ounce can poured into a nonic pint glass.
Canned 2/13/23
L: Dark brown and clear, it blacks out the glass, one inch light tan head, foam is a little rocky and fades to a ring in five minutes or so.
S: Roasted malt, cola, sweet chocolate-like malt aroma.
T: Dark roasted malt, dry, not acrid, hint of sweetness adds balance, medium bitterness, hops showing at the finish.
F: Light-medium weight, medium carbonation, a creamy body with a crisp edge right through.
O: Nice, very drinkable, the low ABV makes it versatile, well done.
