We aged this strong-malty lager in a third-hand PX Sherry Cask from our friends at Sagamore Spirit for 15 months. We get caramel, almonds, earthy, and bready notes… sweet, but not too sweet!

500 ml bottle poured into a tulip.
Pours clear and cola brown in color, is topped with half an inch of off-white to khaki foam that has moderate retention and leaves oily legs on the side of the glass.
The nose leads with a big shot of caramel and brown sugar, followed by bready malt, dark fruit and oak. Graham cracker comes out later in the glass. Taste is no surprise, malty, oak barrel, dark fruit, somewhere in between plum and prune, and dark bread. Medium sweet with good barrel character that runs through to the aftertaste. Full bodied, with a short crisp opening bite that gives way to a smooth creamy viscosity. Not boozy but does have some warmth.
Very good sipper. Big flavor and feel.

Super dark brown, clarity is a moot point, thin off-white head, little retention or lacing, not surprising at this ABV
Raisins, oak, toasted bread, brown sugar aromas
Raisins, brown sugar, fruitcake, almonds, sweet sherry flavors
Heavy bodied, sticky, low carbonation, but it works
This is definitely a nightcap beer, and the 1/2L bottle would've been better split among 4 instead of 2. I like it though.
