Simcoe Nelson Vista IPA – Vista is a brand new hop variety released by the USDA… and we’re already cheating with it! Vista brings melon and tropical fruit aromatics that pair beautifully with Nelson Sauvin’s winey-dankness and Simcoe’s piney-tropicalness!

Pours a hazy golden color with a nice head and lacing
Aroma has generous tropical and citrus hints
The taste follows the nose with a well balanced tropical and citrus flavor
A medium bodied well carbonated beer

Draught pour into a stemless wine glass at the brewery.
L: Drab gold, hazy but translucent , 1/2 inch white head, foam has moderate retention and leaves tiny bits of lace, this is a lively glass of beer and I believe the modest head was due to a conservative pour.
S: Mango-like hoppy aroma, slight cattiness, a bit sweet vegetable and melon rind, catty and vegetable notes fade leaving still somewhat pungent stone fruit/ mango aromas as it warms.
T: Hoppy mango and tropical fruit, moderate and balanced sweetness and bitterness, peppery, some hop spiciness. F: Medium body, soft under a crisp and prickly feel, creamy as it warms leading me to believe the edges were more from carbonation than hop prickle,
O: Good.
