We wanted to showcase a unique coffee in this stout, so we turned to our friends at Quarrelsome Coffee (founded by the same folks from Omega Yeast). They used their knowledge of microbes to push this natural process anaerobic Ivan Solis (Costa Rica) coffee to accentuate a juicy plum note in the finish. That helps balance the huge fudge note from the roast of the beans and the roasted barley and chocolate malt!

Slightly less than a fingers worth of whipped dark khaki colored froth that quickly fizzes away... Xilor is a flat dark mahogany brown... Nose of chocolate fudge, roasted malt and whole coffee beans... Very enticing aroma... Flavor is spot on with the nose... The fridge dominates with hints of roasted malt and faint black coffee... Reminds a bit of a tootsie roll... Geel is sleek and medium bodied with just a touch of carbonation... Nice enjoyable beer...

Beer continues as rated however NO bitterness noted. So may have been related to early vs later aging.
Can from Perfect Pour. Excellent creamy fudge coffee imp stout. Especially liked the velvety mouthfeel without being heavy and cloying. Taste was very good as advertised, but a bit of unpleasant bitterness. Maybe a conflict between the heavy somewhat sweet chocolate stout with a coffee roastiness. Not bad but didn’t work for me as beer warmed and difference came out.
Overall another great brew from Sapwood. This team really knows how to brew!

Dark brown appearance with a moderate moist light brown head that lingers delicately on the surface as it recedes to a film, minor lacing. Bold notes of coffee, fudge, and dates. Moderate to thick body, light carbonation, creamy chewy mouthfeel. Absolutely lovely!
