Shimmering black with a steady brown head. The smell is concerning how much it smells like burnt rice crispy treats bathed in tannin laden red wine. Taste confirms the fear, roasted malts, combining with a fruity wine barrel that aren’t meant for each other. Resulting in burnt chocolate as the aftertaste. The components aren't bad, but they clash together. Thinner and astringent feel for a stout, biting

From notes…Had on tap at Sapwood (Spring 2024). Not a big wine stout guy, but encouraged to try. A very good stout and vinous qualities actually enhanced vs detrimental. Glad I tried it. Remarkably full and smooth.
